Godly Mothers

Monroe Pressnell

God bearing witness in respect of her gifts: and through it she being dead yet speaketh. Now I confess to you that this passage in Hebrews 11:4 refers to Abel and that I've changed the pronouns from he to she/her, but I certainly believe that the principle is true. I know that my mother being dead yet speaketh, in sacrifices she made and the love that she demonstrated, influences my life even today. Isn't it amazing how the love of a good mother has shaped our lives and contributed to the physical character and spiritual nature of her off-spring. Outside the perfect love of the God of heaven and His Son, no love wielded more influence on the human race than that of a Godly mother. Is it any wonder that Paul was filled with joy when he had when had been reminded of Timothy's faith which was first in the two most important women in his life, his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice (2 Timothy 1:5). Isn't it true that the scriptures teach that Hannah, the mother, not Elkanah, the father, lent Samuel to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:28).

I'm thankful that I had a godly mother to help mold my life. Mothers please know that your influence will have a profound impact upon your families for generations to come. Leave them something that will endure. Mothers, even those being dead yet speaketh!
