When Will The World End?
"What question would you ask God if you could talk to him?" The sixth most asked question, according to a survey in the Tampa Tribune, 6) "When will the world end?"
Many folks have made predictions concerning the end of time, and every one of them have been wrong. The truth is, NO ONE KNOWS EXCEPT GOD HIMSELF.
"But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober" (I Thessalonians 5:1-6, emp LS).
"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up" (II Peter 3:8-10, emp LS).
"Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh" (Matthew 24:42-44, emp LS).
Jesus said, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power" (Acts 1:7).
"Preacher, what about all these folks that have predicted the end of the world? Some have claimed that God or an angel told them. Should we listen to these folks?"
No God-fearing man or woman (that knows anything about the Bible) would predict the end of the world. Those that go ahead and say, "The world will come to an end at...", are false prophets, that is, liars! The Bible says, "How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him" (Deuteronomy 18:21-22).
When will the world end? It may be today, tomorrow or ten thousand years from now. NO MAN KNOWS WHEN THE WORLD WILL END! The Bible says that ONLY God knows. Are you ready for the end of the world and meet our Lord?
