As A Thief In The Night

We continue our study today concerning Jesus’ statement recorded in John 14:3 when Jesus said, "I will come again". Why is Jesus Christ coming again?

Jesus is NOT coming again to take everyone that has ever lived to heaven. Jesus said, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 7:21). Jesus said ONLY the righteous will enter heaven (Matthew 25:46).

Jesus Christ is NOT coming again to condemn and send everyone to hell. Jesus said, "Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and MANY there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it" (Matthew 7:13-14, emp LS). Jesus again said, "be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life" (Revelation 2:10).

Jesus Christ IS coming again to judge the world. The apostle Paul said, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad" (2 Corinthians 5:10). Notice my friend that Paul said we "must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ". No amount of money, fame, or brute force will change this. Whoever and wherever you are, when Jesus Christ comes again to judge the world, ALL will stand before the judgment seat of Christ. ALL will give an account of "the things done in his body...whether it be good or bad". Friend, the fact that ALL will be judged according to the things we have done in the body teaches us that after we die, there is nothing that we will be able to do to change our eternal destiny (Hebrews 9:27).

When Jesus Christ comes again, "every knee should bow...and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:10-11). My friend, I will be there doing just that! And so, will you!

Jesus Christ is coming again "in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ" (2 Thessalonians 1:8). The Bible teaches that the one that knows God is one that "keeps his commandments" (I John 2:3). Also, those that have not obeyed the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Mark 16:15-16), "shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and fromthe glory of his power" (2 Thessalonians 1:9).

When Jesus Christ comes again, "the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night" (I Thessalonians 5:2). As Paul warns us ALL, "Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober" (1 Thessalonians 5:6). "Prepare to meet your God, O Israel" (Amos 4:12). ARE YOU READY FOR THE COMING OF JESUS CHRIST?
